The decision to start therapy does not follow strict rules, nor does it depend on going through an "extreme crisis" or having a formal diagnosis. Often, there is no specific or dramatic event.
While a diagnosis or adverse situation can be the reason, it can also simply be the desire to explore a personal or emotional issue, noticing certain patterns of thought or behaviour, or realizing that your usual resources are no longer enough to deal with stress, exhaustion, or the challenges of your current life stage. If you feel something requires your attention, that is reason enough to take the first step.
Psychotherapy sessions take place in a 100% online format (via video call), in a safe and confidential environment. Each session lasts 50 to 60 minutes.
To make the most of our time, you only need to ensure three essential things beforehand: a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a private, quiet space where you can speak freely without interruptions.
For ethical reasons and to protect the confidentiality and privacy of our therapeutic space, audio or video recording of the sessions is strictly prohibited.
The first session is, above all, a space of welcome and mutual acquaintance. I believe the foundation of any successful therapeutic process is a relationship of trust. Therefore, my initial focus is to ensure you feel in a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment.
During this session, we will focus on three essential steps: understanding your history; defining goals (co-creating the therapeutic plan); and clarifying the process (through the presentation of the commitment document).
You do not need to prepare anything for the first session, just the willingness to take the first step. By the end of the consultation, we will have a clear vision of how to move forward, always respecting your pace.
The first consultation is a moment of welcoming and assessment. It serves for us to get to know each other, for me to deeply understand your history and what brings you to therapy, and for us to jointly define therapeutic goals.
The follow-up consultations correspond to the therapeutic process itself. It is in these sessions that we work collaboratively, using practical, evidence-based tools — anchored in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and an integrative approach — to achieve the set goals and promote the desired change.
All individual sessions last approximately 50 to 60 minutes, and Couples Therapy sessions have a maximum duration of 80 minutes.
The frequency of the sessions is always adapted to the needs of the person seeking help and the phase of the therapeutic process. Typically, at the beginning of the treatment, a weekly or biweekly regularity is recommended to build consistency and establish a solid working foundation.
As goals are achieved and you gain greater autonomy, the sessions are naturally spaced out until the moment of clinical discharge.
Since sessions take place in a 100% online format and I support clients in different countries and time zones, my schedule operates on request. Hours are managed flexibly to find the availability that best suits both parties.
Consultations take place from Monday to Friday (with morning, afternoon, and evening slots available). On weekends, Saturday slots are reserved exclusively for Couples Therapy. No consultations are held on Sundays.
Whenever you need, I can also issue a certificate of attendance for work or academic purposes.
| Service | 1st Session | Follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Individual Therapy (Portuguese) | 60€ | 55€ |
| Individual Therapy (English) | 70€ | 65€ |
| Couples Therapy (Portuguese only) | 75€ | 75€ |
Important note: The fee for consultations in English reflects the demands and technical specialization inherent in bilingual clinical care. To secure your time slot in the schedule, payment for the first consultation must be settled within 48 hours after booking. For subsequent consultations, payment must be made up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. Failure to provide proof of payment within these deadlines will result in the cancellation of the reservation.
My clinical practice is strictly private and is not linked to health insurance networks. However, an official invoice-receipt is issued under the framework of Psychology, which is legally valid as a health expense for tax purposes (IRS in Portugal) and for reimbursement requests with your insurance provider.
The success of therapy depends on consistency and the valuing of our time. You can reschedule your session at no cost provided you give more than 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice or failure to attend will result in the full fee for the session being charged.
In situations of force majeure (such as a medical emergency with proof or family bereavement), exceptions apply. The situation will be handled with due empathy and flexibility. In the first session, a document with all the necessary information will be provided, explaining these matters in detail.
Absolutely. I am a Psychologist, a full member of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists (Professional License No. 23744), and my work is governed by strict compliance with the profession's Deontological Code. This guarantees total professional secrecy, strict privacy of your data, and an always evidence-based practice.
To ensure this space is entirely preserved and free from any exposure, no testimonials, comments, or records about the consultations or clinical processes of those I follow are requested, shared, or published. Your story and your privacy remain, always, exclusively yours.
The breach of confidentiality only occurs in extreme circumstances foreseen by law, such as situations involving a risk to the life of the individual or others.
Your safety and well-being are my priority. The consultation space is the moment when we deeply work through your difficulties and, whenever necessary, we will jointly define, during the session, strategies and a clear plan on how to act in potential moments of crisis.
However, I operate on an appointment basis and do not have a 24-hour helpline or immediate response capability. To ensure you are never without support in an emergency, you should always contact emergency services (112 in Europe), go to the emergency room in your area, or call your local health helpline.
To protect clinical focus during sessions, I do not provide immediate responses. I will read your message with utmost care and reply as soon as possible, usually within 48 business hours. During holiday periods, this time may be slightly longer.
Yes. I embraced online therapy full-time to be able to support people anywhere in the world. I conduct consultations in Portuguese and English.
